Ok Hal I removed the center wire from the cap (the other in is into the coil for reference). I could BARELY get anything out of it. I was almost touching the bolt before I got any fire/spark out of the wire and it was a white and very small burst at best. Could the coil be bad? I will check the points later tonight (have to run to the store now) and clean them up and see what they look like. I am not sure I am using the absolute best ground. It is a bolt that is holding on the hydro pump and cap / rotor toward the front. It is also what I used to check the spark plugs on . which only one actually fired. As I said I will check the points and clean them. this tractor does not have a magneto at least going by the manual pictures it doesn't! so I assume it has whatever else there is! Thanks so far.
