Try this, wrap a peice of tape around that tube and see what happens. if it runs good there it is! Also check the float agin and make sure it is not hanging up on the side of casting or on a gasket. If that doesn't do it, adjust choke just enough to keep it running but running rough, spray carb cleaner around the carb and intake gaskets and anywhere else you susspect it might leak and if it smooths out that is where the air leak is. Good luck with it.
