okay, the way this is starting to sound, is that the pilot bearing that is between the transmission main shaft and the transmission input shaft, has wen't out, and locked the two shafts together.. this would explain the road gear in neutral, because this problem is more or less a direct lockup between the input and main shaft, which the 5th gear does.. Now, as to damage, the pilot bearing is definately shot, the mainshaft (where the bearing sits may be scarred) and may need to be replaced, and more than likely the input shaft is ruined.. This problem is common on Ms, and the parts are around.. if what I described above is the case, email me, because I have some of the parts which you will need to repair the tractor..
