H brakes sizzling

brought home my "new" h today, had an unrelated problem
so i was on the side of the road with the engine
off, and i heard sizzling like bacon. i felt the
cover over the right brake and it was hot. upon
closer inspection i saw hot oil (sizzling) dripping from what looked like a drain plug at the bottom of the cover. i continued on home, and when
i arrived it was cool to the touch and not dripping anymore. is there supposed to be oil in there?
