The sources of ignition are of no concern with the engine running, since the exhaust has no un-burned fuel in it. When you shut down your hot super A engine, it continues to spin, and continues to carburate fuel and pass it into the stack where it explodes upon ignition. There could be a burr in the exhaust manifold inside the casting, or within the exhaust ports of the head, but somehow I suspect your muffler is causing the ignition. RKS
