it isn't the timing, since you switch it off as you shut down. Gas is spooling up and ventilating through the intake, pistons, exhaust ports, and into the stack and muffler. Somewhere in there, carbon deposits are causing ignition of the mixture. Try replacing the muffler (not much money) and you may feel comfortable and safe in engaging the clutch in high gear as you shut down, which will prevent the spinning and ventilation. Also, be sure and idle down as low as possible before shut-down. Cheers. RKS
