Folks I have the pulley pulled out of the assembly. To my shock, several ounces of WATER poured out of the assembly. Now this was on my 45H which has been shedded since 1990 and was only outside for about 10 years of its life. The housing has a depression in it so it can hold old 90W and water. I strongly recommend that you unbolt the 3 bolts, tap on the belt pulley flange until you have about a 1/4" clearance and let it drain. You won't have too much come out. Maybe a 1/4 of a quart at most. I plan to do this on both the 46 at the farm and the 51 which spent most of its life outside. To take the gear off, you need a 4 inch 3 claw puller to get the gear and the first ball bearing assembly off. Now to get the second bearing and the housing face off, you will need a 10 inch 3 claw puller. I have unsuccessfully been pounding on the flange housing and I don't want to break it. Once you have this off then you can easily replace the seal. Mine is leaking badly on the 45 H. That's my public announcement for the day. Thanks for all the very very nice compliments I got both on the board and through the email! You are all very kind.
