If you want to understand how the tractor is going to crank and run on 6 volts just turn off the lights. disconnect the gen/alt, install the 6 volt battery and heavy cables and fire it up. I run 12 coils on 6 volt cars leaving the resistor in place with no problem. If you are a purist and want the tractor to be original put a 6 gen on it provided you are satisfied with the above test. If you are more interested in dependability abort the above effort and stick with the 12 volts. If you have a problem with the 12 volts working correctly post you observations and we will assist
