I recently purchased a Farmall 450. Tractor runs and shifts easily. I get a loud whine from the power train when the tractor is in reverse, loaded or unloaded. Is this normal and if not how might I determine where the problem is in the drive train? Also, I've used the tractor a bit for grading in reverse (with a box blade) and it seems to have an automatic brake when in reverse and on a slope; i.e. it doesn't try to roll even with the implement off the ground. Normal? or am I driving it with a parking brake on? (parking brake lock on foot pedals is not engaged.) there is a mechanism below the left side of the seat with a lever which is raised or lowered. Mechanism is connected to the 3 point. what is the function of the lever and associated mechanism? Thanks. PS: for those of you that helped when I couldn't get it running last month, THANKS! It turned out sometime previously the distributor had been rebuilt and installed 180 out. I got it figured out and it runs better than ever with all the new ignition components.
