Jeff, I can only presume from your Email address that you are posting from the States and if so, I wonder what Online Site you were visiting when you noticed the 976. The 976 I know of was built totally in Australia using the same engine as the 866 but fitted with a Turbo. Made it pull like one thing but they had some driveline trouble, so with the release of our 86 Series the 986 recieved the same driveline as the 1086. Problem solved. As far as I know they weren't ever exported but I'll stand corrected if you know otherwise. Engine was Australian built of Neusse design. 358 Cubes, rated at 2500rpm. Same Geartrain style as the American 66Series but locally built. Hope this helps. Redfan.
