This is interesting because I was a tech for 10 years also new delivery & set-up, then I always told everyone at the parts counter I was demoted to parts, anyway I am positive about the castings for these tractors, yes they have wider bull gears, different axle sizes, but in gear drive tractors as far as demensions of the basic castings they will fit and replace anything from 26/56/66/86 in the clutch housing, clutch diameter will not require change of housing, we have put 14" clutch on 966/986, rear frames are the same, axle housings ditto, been at this too long to be told otherwise. I dont expect you to take my word for it, call a good IH salvage yard, as them about this.
