IH shipped all new tractors up through 656 with back wheels on reverse, part of set-up at dealer was to remove the wheel and reverse it for tire tread correction, also to set row crop width desired by customer. They shipped them by truck but mostly in H/M days majority shipped by rail, they could squeeze more tractors in a given area, weight wasnt the problem.
