IH engines in good shape (overhaul) typically seem to run high oil pressure. It is probably lifting the pressure relief valve in the oil pump which is OK. The best way to really know what pressure the system is under is to use a good calibrated gage on it. The problem of dieseling is not related to oil pressure at all - other than the fact that there is no oil pressure present when the engine - thus the oil pump is running backward. There are some very hot surfaces in the combustion chamber that cause the fuel to ignite even without an arc at the spark plug. If you have oil coming out of the air inlet when it diesels, it is, in fact, running backwards. That oil is coming from the oil cleaner cup. Be sure to check that the oil level is up to the mark in the cup if the engine has blown some out. Some things to do to relieve the dieseling problem are to let the engine idle for several minutes to "cool down" before shutting it off or turning off the fuel and let the carb run out of gas. If you do the latter, be sure to turn the ignition switch off before leaving the tractor.
