OK lets take this as beat we can over the net.There should only be one wire to the magneto,from the switch.There should only be one wire one that switch.You should NOT be getting anykind of reading,or light,on that wire at all with the engine not spinning over.Dont know if it would give a reading with it spinning or not.Take off the top off the magneto,black cap,may be grayish with age or red, the center wire from the cap goes into it and clean the spot on top of the coil where the little thing inside the top cap contacts it and well as that little thing in the top cap maybe some crud there.Also,where that wire is on the side of the mag is accually the condensor.There should be another wire connected on the inside of the mag.Manke sure it is.Send me youe email address along with what type of sysyem you have,12 volt or 6 volt,alternator or starter,regulator or cut out and Ill send you a diagram.
