Ken - If your 300 has the original 3-brush generator, the 3rd brush is not adjustable to change charging rate. Rather the system charge rate is determined by the regulator. Suggest that if you haven't already installed a new regulator, do that next. It is possible to adjust the voltage regulator but it's fussy and the adjustments difficult to get right, even with proper tools and instruments. And if the regulator is more than a few years old it probably should be replaced anyway. One other thing to check: Make sure the regulator is SOLIDLY grounded. I like to run an auxiliary ground wire between a regulator base mounting screws and the grounded battery cable connection to the frame. I know it's not original but it often saves a lot of frustration later on, especially if you use the tractor infrequently and it sits outside.
