hey my dad has a 706 gas job and we hade the same problum you have it was a pain took alote more time and always made a mess so we called are case ih deler and found out that they make a convershion kit for the 06 56 and 66 serises tractors so you can put a spin on filter on it. it didnt cost much its faster less mess and easer to keep changed plus i think its better for the motori think your idea will work too good luck
