Drizler, that is a hard way to put oil in. The contol unit as you call it is bolted to the clutch housing/drive shaft tube. On the front side of the control unit where it bolts to the drive tube is the fill hole. If it is not there you may not have a 230 casting or the tractor is not a 230. Nothing on mine draws fluid from the transmission/differential. Wish I could send you a picture. Dave
