Fellas - thanks kindly for the quick and detailed responses! Think I'm ready to do some mass destruction now -G-. Do you recall if the lever for the Range shifter should be welded to the shaft going into the top cover of the trans? I kind of would have expected it to be on a keyed shaft. Maybe that was a fix in the past for a lost or worn key. Good weld but no paint on the parts so I thought maybe it was a repair.
