A few days ago I posted about a B250 that hadn't run in about 8 years. I got good advice from the guy with the caterpillar experience and this morning I fired up that little diesel. We put a new battery in it and then put cables on that, kicked her over and finally I wished I had some ether and the lady who I was buying it from thought she had some in the house...pssst and the little diesel came to life smoking like a tire fire. Once it warmed up it ran great. The rear tires are like new, the fronts are serviceable but for cosmetic reasons should be replaced. It has a McCormick loader and bucket. The front grill has been damaged but appears to be repairable..if not I know Ontario Tractor Parts will have a good replacement grill. I drove the tractor around the yard and it seems to work really well. I am to pick it up next week. I want to change the oil and hydraulic fluds as well as drain the 8 year old fuel and replace it with fresh diesel. How did I do for $700???? Now here's a warning for all you guys, I put it in gear in the shed and slowly released the clutch and the tractor moved ahead, I pushed in the clutch and nothing!!! I thought I was going through the end of the shed...finally the clutch released just in the nick of time..never thought about the clutch sticking..but 8 years sitting. The only problem I can find is I am suspicious that the throw out bearing is bad in it, chatters when engaging but quiet as a mouse when the clutch is released and you are moving...are these things like an H that can be replaced by pulling the belly pan and replacing from below??I will have to get to a tractor show and get a manual for the B250, I am quite happy with today's events which I cloaked in secrecy until now. I will get some diesel fuel conditioner and oil and a fresh can of fuel for it. I will trailer it home although it is only about 10 miles from the farm. I haven't told Barb yet, she is not likey to be real happy as I just bought a new Angus bull on Thursday...the bull she can live with but the 6th tractor ......hmmmm...anyway if I don't post within 10 days contact the Ontario Provincial police( just kidding)... another red tractor saved for future generations...the Devil made me do it...Mike in Exeter Ontario
