C123 Block Boring

Has anyone bored a C113/123 block out for a larger sleeve? I am working on a 240 motor which is a C123, but apparently IH went back to the smaller bore opening (3 5/16" at sleeve o-ring seal) and put the motor out with the thinner sleeves from the factory. I wanted to bore the block to accept the 3 1/4" bore sleeves (3 7/16" at o-ring) but the machine shop says they can't enlarge the depth of the groove for the o-ring with their boring machine. So, should I look for another machine shop, or is it even necessary to open up that as well?
