I believe mistakenly of course that every one treats engines like I do. This morning down on the farm I decided to drop the oil pan on my "new" B250. My oil guage had been jumping around and even though I have changed the oil twice in the two weeks I have had the tractor, I became suspicious that the jumping oil guage was really sludge getting sucked through the oil sump...and I was right. The pan once off contained about 1 1/2" of what I would describe as black mud jello...I have never seen so much sludge in an engine. I have seen sludge build up on the top of the head on my H but that seemed normal build up..this was beyond belief. My little diesel now has a clean pan ,new gasket, new oil filter and fresh oil, my guage is as steady as a rock and the problem is solved...so...what do you suppose the gear oil and Hy-trans fluid are like ....I went to my nearest Walmart and bought a 5 gallon pail of 90 gear oil and Monday I will pick up some hy-trans at my local Case-I-H dealer..goes to show that some people don't take much care of their equipment over the years..and the first thing I will do when I buy another tractor is buy a new gasket and filters and drop the pan and do it right from the beginning...could have saved myself two oil changes...oils well that ends well!!! Mike in Exeter Ontario. P.S. got any dirty stories to share?
