Craig, Common problem on old Farmalls. Remove the pin that goes throught the shifter tower at the base of the gear shift lever. May have to take out what looks like a small freeze plug on one side and then punch the pin out. Pull the gear shift lever up out of the tower. With a light, look down in the hole and using a large screw driver, aline the shift rails so the large slot is lined up straight across for all three rails. Look at the end of the shift lever. If it is rounded off and worn down, you may need to get it built up some to fit properly into that slot. Stick it back in and put the pin back in through the shifter. You could have a bent shifting fork but most likely its the end of the shifter lever being worn down.
