W-30 hydraulics

I have a McCormic Deering W-30, in good working condition, on which I would like to install a hydraulic system so as to operate a remote as for a disc, etc. Does anyone have any experience/suggestions regarding such a project? Specifically, is the fan bearing strong enough to stand up to the side pull of a pump that I might mount on the generator bracket and run off the fan belt? (There is no generator on the tractor.) Or, should I opt for a, more expensive, pto driven pump? Also, where is a good pace to mount the resevoir--under the seat? I would be much obliged for any advice.
