Piston Sleeve Removal

Im in the middle of restoring an F-20, I finally got all the pistons out. My question is that I have to romove one sleeve, do I need to remove the crank for this or can I shield it with something? I know a guy that can get them out either by welding or worse case seniero cutting them. Thanks for all your help. I dont ask many questions but a do read a lot and appreciate all the advice...
