The check valve he mentioned will keep the hitch from falling until you have pressure on the hydraulic hose to lower the hitch.This releases the check valve to let it go down. If you don't have hydraulic pressure, it will not come down without unhooking the hooses to the valve from the cyllinder, but you need something to hold the plow up while doing this.
