I noticed an attractive offer for a power steering pump in the photo ads, and it got me thinking again. Is is possible to add a power steering pump without cutting my shafts? I want to keep it original without power steering, but I would like power steering when I do serious work with it to lessen the impact it had on my arms this last December picking corn (frozen ground one day made me about ready to visit a physical therapist!!!) I have been told by three people how easy it is to install, "Cut the shaft here...put the pump on here..." but I don't want to cut any shafts. I have, on the other hand, considered finding a shaft off a salvage tractor that had power steering and use it when I want power steering and put the original on for when I want to show or play. Anyone have any suggestions or feelings? Thanks.
