Here's why it is silly...although hydrogen is very abundant in natural compounds, it is almost, if not completely non-existant as free hydrogen. It is always combined with something else. Free hydrogen would be an ideal fuel, but it must be produced by separating it from something else. This requires using more energy to separate it than can be obtained by using it as a fuel. Water plus energy (electrolysis) yields oxygen and hydrogen. Combining the oxygen and hydrogen yields back most of the energy. Searching for a source for free hydrogen would be like searching for an antidote for gravity to make it easier for airplanes to fly. It doesn't exist in nature on our planet. This really should be taught in our schools, and George Bush should know about it. George Willer
