Roger: Like Red I agree with you. An inside to outside restoration is worth a lot of money to the guy who did it at least. I have a Super A and the cosmetics are not done yet. When asked to put a price on SA, I always say $5,000. Even at that I would not be paid well for my labour. In the case of you guys with those gas start diesels, and cost of properly restoring tractor, $15,000. sounds quite reasonable. again the guy who sold in auction for $12,000. didn't recover much labor. The big joke of course is, and you see these guys on here every day. "I bought a 1066, 1086, 1466, etc for $3,500 or less, what a great bargain." Most of those tractors if given to you wouldn't be a bargain. To start with many have a lot more hours than clock shows. Secondly, those tractors were sold new just prior to some of the roughest economic times in past 50 years for farmers. The 1980s. The guys that survived with them took every inch of good out of them. A lot of them were run with items not working properly, or not serviced when they should have been. I would definately go for 56 and older, guys had them paid for when eighties hit.

To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
