Thanks to all for the replies and warm welcome! Bob M: Without taking the switch box apart and looking, the light switch appears to have four stops by feel, but only three are used (off, dim, bright). I believe it has a voltage regulator, there is a square box mounted about two inches below the generator that has four terminals, three on one side and one on the opposite side. Yes, I would prefer to wire it in myself. I used to build and wire machine tools, so I'm good at neatly running wires from schematics and have a fair (not thorough) knowledge of electronic circuitry. Oh, yeah, about that light switch. When the front lights are dim, the rear light is bright and vice versa. Is that proper configuration? I thought it was a little peculiar. Thanks for the help! Ted
