Oil passages on 1940 H

Is there a way to blow out the oil passages on the engine without disassembling it? I took my oil filter base off and it was really a mess inside. The base doesn't have the relief valve and the badly deteriorated filter was laying in the bottom of the filter base. I don't mind taking off the oil pan and valve cover. Does the engine need this spring and valve in the base? I'm sure some of this crud got into the passage going into the engine from the filter. Also, I checked the compression and it was within 15 psi of each cylinder. Does anyone know what good compression is on a 1940 H? Thanks in advance!
