I have an old red Farmal Cub with a Fast hitch that wouldn't start this spring. The last time I ran it was in January to push snow. There didn't appear to be any spark, so I figured that a tune up would be a good thing. I bought new points, condensor, rotor, cap and plugs and changed them out. I dug out my old timing light and dwell meter that I haven't used in 20 years, and looked for specs to set them. I set the point gap that my book listed. My question is, how do you set timing with apparently only top dead center timing marks on the fan pully? Does it fire at top dead center? What about advanced timing? Or do you set it when cranking and not running?
