BobM, I have recently been working on a 47 Farmall M with a 12v (3-wire Delco) conversion and was wondering what the difference was between a 12v cutout and the 3-wire alternator hookup such as you've posted previously in this forum. The cutout on the M has 4 contacts: 2 to the alternator (F/S), one to the keyed ignition and the remaining contact is unused. I'd first attempted to use the cutout and had no sucess as the tractor had been sitting for a few years and the contacts, etc. were corroded. After getting no response out of the alternator using the cutout, I hooked up the alternator per one of your diagrams (3-wire) and the ammeter jumped to steady 20A charge until I disconnected the sense wire. Will the alternator ever stop charging using your setup? Meaning, is there a voltage regulator internal to the alternator or a cutout? Thanks for the help. Barry
