Condition is KING. I agree a 1206 is a good tractor, but a lot of them had the power turned up so they could pull the same equipment a 1456-66-86 pulled. The transmission is the weak point in the 1206 and after 35+ years any purchase of one needs to have an allowance for that possible repair unless your buying a known cream puff. That said, remember the 986 came out in some of the hardest economic times farming has ever seen and most where worked hard and put up wet for several years. A lot of these suffered from poor maintenace (can't afford an oil and coolant change if you aren't make the equipment payments).
