I have a 40 B that is hand start and it doesn't have a choke up to the driver, I just figured it was that way because you are in front when you start it.If you had a temp gauge it would be mounted on the govner housing and screw in to the lower radiator hose housing. My oil pressure runs in the middle of the gauage and it a Hi Lo one. Hope I helped a little.
