There are a few things to consider before swapping out rings, pistons, etc...First you must determine if they are original size, i.e. have the cylinders been bored oversize etc...There are clearances to be measured, etc...
Firstly you could check your compression, if compression is up to spec. and the cylinder walls don't look scored, then you should be OK.
