Skeeter: The pin on the pivot has to come out. The hardest job here is getting that U bolt that goes around axle just at left of pivot. I have always found it easier to unbolt the wheel tread adjustment on the left side and slide that right out. Besides once that front axle is in two pieces it is a lot easier to handle. You may find the key way for the woodruff key on the tapered shaft is out of shape. I had to grind a larger key to fit as key way was V shaped. On one tractor we actually welded the key in shaft and ground it so steering control arm had to be pressed on. That one was also the most sucessful. It has been 10 years and the tractor steering is as tight as the day it was new. Everyone told me I would ruin shaft. I advised it was already ruined. Those shafts and cogs are quite expensive even at scrap yards.
