560 Charging ?..Might be a stupid ?

I have a 560 Diesel that I have to store outside presently. It has the 12 volt w/ 2 6 vold batteries. I am wondering if I need to put a charger on it do I just put the positive on one battery and the neg on the neg on the other battery or is it best to charge each battery seperately? Would like to avoid takeing them out to charge them. Hope this isnt too dumb of a ?
