How warm does your generator get?

The generator on my Super A gets to warm to keep your hand on it. Using a multimeter I have checked out the generator and it is working correctly. I have the switch on the dash set to low charge. There does not seem to be any other load on the generator besides that. I am concerned that there is damage being done to the generator by it getting warm/hot like it is. I did just replace the rear bushing and put a new armature in it. The only thing I haven't check is to see if some portion of the armature is dragging.
Any thoughts.
