Van: My 300 which I don't have anymore, so don't have serial number was bought new by my dad in June of 1955 so it could easily have been a 54, living some 2,000 mile from the factory. It did indeed have a dipstick. I'm not saying all these tractors had all the equipment for dual fuel. However the farmers in some areas wanted them so conversion was possible should economic climate dictate the need. Remember they at that time, were indeed less than 10 years away from WW#2 and Korean war. The cold war was very much a fact of life. The American farmer knew then these tractors would last 25 years+ and he didn't want to own a tractor he couldn't buy fuel for. These guys were frugal people. They knew that with a mule, horse or ox, the economy could not run them out of fuel.
