Val, I learned the hard way and will never do another overhaul by replacing just the rings....I feel it is a complete waste of time and money; a band aid repair at best. However, I understand where you are coming from and why you want to do it the cheaper way; sure. But, if you have that much play and the original specs call for a .004 to .005 clearance, those things are going to be trying to swap holes on you. A .012 taper is going to push oil like crazy. I don't think you can see daylight on this one; it's either a full-steam-ahead deal or close the book on it. Just my view, Allan
