I can't say that this is the proper way to get the job done but I loostened the bolts that connect the torque tube to the transmission and moved the back of the tractor away from the front about 1/4inch. This allowed enough room to take out the coupling and then replace the seal. I supported the front of the tractor and just took it slow and easy. Seemed safe enough to do this and it didn't require removing anything in order to get the back half of that coupling off.
