All distillate carbs, regardless of brand, have a drain petcock for the gas, and a adjustable main jet. Yours could simply have a cap over the jet, since it runs on gas -- the jet could have been changed, also. The gas carbs have a removable plug instead of the petcock. According to my parts book, the easiest way to tell if you have a distillate or gasoline manifold is that the exhaust pipe on the gas mainfold screws in, the kero/distillate exhaust pipe is held on with two studs with nuts. The dist manifold does have what you described as a box between the intake for #2 and 3, the carb attaches to the manifold by a flange only about 1/2 inch (guessing from diagram), below the manifold. On the gas mainfold the carb mounting flange is a 2-3 inches below the manifold, and the "box" as you describe it is tapered, rounder, and narrower. The distillate/kero head has a part number of 261 295 R2 or perhaps R21. A gasoline head will be either 355 046 R2, or 366 299 R1 or R11. Don't pay too much attention to the numbers attached to the R, as they all interchange, or are upgrades. ANY or all of these parts could have been changed on your tractor, or you could have any combination, depending on who did what.

Top that off with an old set of '36 Ford headlight shells bolted to the hood. Pretty unlikely for a car... but for a tractor, this is pretty normal. It seems that more often than not they a
