go onto batescorp.com and check there prices for new pistons and rings. if the cylinders are scored then the pistons are no good either you would save yourself the time and trouble of ripping the engine down twice. send the pump and injectors to a injection shop and have them tested or a diesel repair facility. it would only cost a hundred or so to test the pump. I turned down a md because of the pump but don't let it scare you when you get it running it is worth it. my smd sat for 25 years and runs like it was brand new and I even havent adjusted the valves yet. good luck that tractor is worth every penny when done.
