I noticed that it did not have the gross smell that the normal 90 weight has to it. It was more like the smell of motor oil, what was a heavier weight more like an 80 or 90 weight. Maybe the red was just a certain brand of gear oil. All of the gear oil that I have ever purchased was a sort of green or brownish black color and smelled bad.
