I have started a B in gear and would NOT recommend it. Since the starter switch is located on the starter and the starter is right in front of the rear wheel, you WILL run over yourself 9 times out of 10 (I got lucky, and I'll never try it again). Even in reverse, after it starts you now have the challenge of getting aboard a running tractor going full-speed ahead, uh, reverse. Not an easy task. Better to have someone else hold the clutch down, tractor in gear and see if you can push the tractor by hand. It's a small enough tractor that on level ground you should be able to move it.
