I lent my trusty ol' W6 to a neighbour , went to check on them a little while later , they were jammed in to a fence , stuck in reverse !. The tractor has never given gear selection trouble before !. I tried to get the lever out , but it looks like a "farmer repair" job , it has a bolt replacing the pin , and i can't stop it from turning , it looks like the head was ground off !. I think I will - 1/ jack the nearside wheel up, and try to get the lever back in to the reverse position. 2/weld something on to the bolt , so that i can hold it , to undo the nut. 3/Replace it with an original gearlever and pin from an AW 6 parts tractor , that are in VGC. My question is , the casting in the gearbox housing is very loose , how will I tighten this up , for the pin ?. What electrics should i remove from the tractor , before I stick weld ?. Regards Rob Johnson.
