I have an M that I am trying to get ready for winter. I bought a new battery for it this summer, but it has run down. I was just wondering why. It has been converted to a 12 volt system (negative ground). It has a generator on the right front and a voltage regulator on the right, about halfway between the gen and battery. I had to jump start it last week and ran it for about an hour. It ran fine. But, I tried to start it immediately after shutting it down and it wouldnt even turn over. I pulled the battery and tested it. It only read about 11 volts. I also pulled the generator and the brushes look fine. The voltage regulator appears to be aftermarket (Neihoff). Does anyone have any idea what could be going on.
