I was going to change the oil in the trans/dif on the 560 today. Drained about a qt of water outa the lower rear, and a cup or so outa the front before I got to pure oil. Since it is apparently seperating, must not be Hy-Tran, cuz that will absorb water, right? I can still stick my finger in the sight plug hole and find oil very close to full. So I'm not too anxious to change it if I don't have to. Was going to add some oil with what I had before spending $80 on Hy-Tran. Assuming that's what I actually need(?). I have a 5 gal bucket of Univis N46 High VI hyd oil. Meets Denison HF-0, HF-2; Milcron P-70; Vickers I-286-S, M-2950-S. It's almost clear. Is this anything close to what I should put in there to top it off? If not, what CAN I use this stuff for? Price was right, I got at a farm sale, unbroken seal for $1. Also the guy at the parts counter said that my tran/diff and hydraulics are all one big reservoir. I'm not so sure about that, becasue there appears to be a second smaller case in between the engine block and the transaxle case. This smaller case includes the clutch bell housing and has a rectangular plate under it, with a drain plug that requires a 1/4" square allen type wrench to remove it (which I don't have). WHat is this casting, and is it connected to and sharing the same oil as the trans/diff? If seperate, what do I need to do to service it? The manual is on order, but I'm too antsy to wait. I want to use my tractor!
