Had the same problem with my ih484. Engine didn't skip or lose power and oil loss was small. Ran it that way for a year.
Now I have oil running from exhaust manifold and blowing from muffler. Still no skip or lack of power. No oil in radiator or coolant in oil pan. You tell me.
