460 head seepage

Recently done complete overhaul. Having hard time sealing head. Doesn't appear to have any coolant in oil and runs fine.Should I have used thread sealer on head bolts? I don't think they go into the water jacket. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Paul
